Word to the Wyes 9/9/21

A Prayer of Remembrance on September 11, 2021
O Lord, our strength and our redeemer. We pause to remember the great losses and courageous acts of September 11th. We lift up those who are still affected — Families of the victims, police officers, firemen, first responders and all who were involved. We pray for the light of Christ to flood the hearts of people everywhere. We believe you desire to redeem all your creation, and we trust that beauty will continue to come from the ashes of our darkest days. Surround us with your mighty angels of protection, give us compassion for one another in all life’s circumstances, and the courage to answer your call.  Amen.

Sunday, September 12th
8 am service of Holy Communion – St. Luke’s Chapel
10 am service of Holy Communion – Old Wye
(masks are available for those who wish)

A Collect for the
Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost
O God, because without you we are not able to please you, mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Birthday blessings to Anna Sophia Denton, Don Webber, David Bryan and William Radcliffe. Anniversary blessings to Mike & Carol Bilek and Lane & Connie Cole.
Warmest regards in Christ,
Reverend Charlie

We are seeking your perspective and feedback. As we are steadily returning to in-person Sunday services, the number and frequency of online views has been declining. Weekly livestreaming of parish services will be discontinued the month of September while we reimagine our online worship service presence. You may look forward to a future survey posted on Word to the Wyes Weekly.

Fall into Kerygma
The Kerygma course, Reading the Bible as a Whole, begins on Monday, September 13 at 10 am in the Wye Parish House and on Zoom. The fall course is a weekly discovery of the Old Testament beginning with Genesis and concluding with the Visions of the Messiah. For those who are new to Kerygma, the resource book is available this week at Parish House. I look forward to welcoming everyone to this vision of reading the scriptures together.

Special Sunday School Session
Please join Miss Bibi for a special Sunday school session at Old Wye on Sunday, September 19, at 10:00 a.m. Children of all ages are welcome to enjoy a fun hour of fellowship, faith, and learning. As an extra treat, Mr. Rick Culotta will visit to share some neat facts from Old Wye’s history and talk about our parish’s upcoming 300th anniversary. It’s sure to be a great time and a very happy one since we’ll all be together again!
