Annual Parish Meeting

We look forward to welcoming you in person for the Annual Meeting beginning with Holy Communion. As a precaution during these months of winter, we are requesting that all attending in person wear a mask. Prayers for your health and well being in the New Year.

Prayer for the Annual Meeting
Almighty God, who in thy great mercy has called us into the fellowship of thy Church and the service of thy kingdom: Hear us as we lift up our hearts to thee to seek thy blessing upon the annual meeting of Wye Parish. So guide and empower us by thy Holy Spirit that we may be enabled both to know and to do thy will; unite us in the love of Christ one towards another; and fill us with zeal to work together for the benefit of thy Church in this place, and for the advancement of thy kingdom throughout the world. We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord. Amen.

Children’s Church Holy Communion Class
We Give Thanks is a course preparing children to receive Holy Communion with deeper understanding.
We Give Thanks is scheduled at 10 am the first Sundays of months leading to Easter 2022. This Sunday, February 6, Joanne Fisher, Youth Missioner and Communications Director of the Diocese, will meet with parents and parishioners after the church service and communion class at Old Wye to discuss the future of our children’s ministry.

The Kerygma course, Reading the Bible as a Whole, continues on Monday, February 7th at 10 am in the Wye Parish Library. The winter/spring course is a weekly discovery of the New Testament beginning with The Good News and concluding with the Revelation of John. Amen.

Books Café / Kitchen
As most know, the Books Café will take place Feb. 16 till Feb. 21. The ECW will have the kitchen open each day. We are doing it a little different this year because of COVID. The kitchen will offer baked goods and 3 dishes for takeout – Chicken Salad, Chili, and 15 Bean Soup. The take out will be offered in Pint containers. All food will be prepackaged and ready for takeout. This should make things much easier for the kitchen help. The Books Café hours are 10AM till 6 PM each day.
I’m looking for volunteers to do one (1) four-hour shift 10AM till 2PM or 2PM till 6PM.
As always, this wouldn’t be possible without the generous donations of baked goods and diced chicken. Chicken can be cut up into bite size pieces and frozen.
If you are able to help, please call Mary Julie at 410-310-3577

The 19th Annual Books Café

Connecting Senior – Free Tablet Program
In December, the Queen Anne’s County Area Agency on Aging launched its pilot program, Connecting Seniors-Free Tablet Program. Through generous donations from Haven Ministries, 8 qualifying participants were provided with an iPad along with two 90-minute training sessions with a representative from QAC Commission on Aging. As technology advances, getting seniors “connected” is especially important now more than ever. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated social isolation and loneliness, as well as other issues that older adults commonly face. This program will allow seniors access to telehealth visits, numerous ways to connect with family and friends, and a plethora of information and resources, all without leaving home.

Haven Ministries - Hope Through Shelter, Clothing & FoodDonations of non-perishable food are warmly accepted for the Haven Ministries Emergency Food Shelter. Food donation boxes are located at both St. Luke’s Chapel and Old Wye Church.
The Food Pantry at Haven Ministries is open for daily distribution.
