A Collect for the Twenty-fifth Sunday of Pentecost
Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

“From Darkness to Light”
This is a small group designed to support those who are grieving the loss of a loved one or experiencing grief related to some major transition in their life, including but not limited to retirement, job loss, relocation, personal illness, illness of a loved one, or grief associated with losses related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Scriptural wisdom will guide us as we explore the many dimensions of grief while offering spiritual encouragement within a supportive community of faith. Over the course of five sessions, the group will explore a variety of scripture passages as we engage in the practice of Lectio Divina. We will gather for our first session on Monday, November 15th at 10 am in the Library, our final session will be December 13th. Susie Leight will facilitate this group. Please contact Rev. Charlie to sign up and come as you are on November 15th!

Fall into Kerygma
The Kerygma course, Reading the Bible as a Whole, continues on Monday, November 15 at 10 am in the Wye Parish House. The fall course is a weekly discovery of the Old Testament beginning with Genesis and concluding with the Visions of the Messiah. For those who are new to Kerygma, the resource book is available this week at Parish House. I look forward to welcoming everyone to this vision of reading the Scriptures together.

Calling all carolers!  Do you love to sing?  Do you love Christmas music?  Here’s your chance to join the Old Wye Parish Christmas Choir.  Our Wednesday evening rehearsals will be focusing on Advent and Christmas music.  We will be singing on Sunday mornings throughout Advent and will provide music for the 10 pm Candlelight Service at Old Wye Church.  If you don’t have the time to commit to choir on an ongoing basis, perhaps Christmas choir will work for you!  Come join us at 7:00 on Wednesday evenings.  I look forward to seeing you. Carolyn Cutler

From the 300th Anniversary Committee
Christopher Wilkinson
What a wonderful start to the Celebration of our 300th Anniversary of Old Wye Church on October 17!
Just in case you missed it or would like to hear it again, here is how it began with an amazing portrayal, (as presented in the First Person by Warren Tewes), of the somewhat controversial Rev. Christopher Wilkinson.  Read full article on our website.

The Offering Plate
We thank you for your support of Wye Parish.  Your ushers will leave the plate near the back of the church so that you may leave an offering as you enter or depart.
Or, you may always take advantage of our online giving. Simply click on the plate to make an online offering for Wye Parish. This online giving feature also may be accessed any time by clicking the donate button at the top of this newsletter or from the Wye Parish website.
Thank you to all who have mailed their weekly or monthly offerings, bring their pledges to church on Sunday mornings and to those who are already using our online donation service.

Prayer for Annual Parish Stewardship
Accept, O Lord, these gifts which we bring to you, inspire and increase our gratitude for the presence of your Holy Spirit in our lives. We commit our church to your praise and honor, that the name of our Lord Jesus may be worshipped, and his ministry of compassion, healing and new life bring hope to all people. Amen.

Haven Ministries - Hope Through Shelter, Clothing & FoodAttention to all Homeless Shelter Volunteers
Haven Ministries Homeless Shelter is open again for the Fall, Winter and Spring session:
For now, due to the pandemic and safety concerns, our guests will be housed in hotels again and cared for by the Haven Ministries Staff. Hopefully we will be back in the shelter at KIUMC by January. However dinners are still being provided by volunteers from the various member churches. Providing dinners is easier than in the past, as you only need to drop off the dinner (usu. meat and veggie casserole) at 5:30 at the Kent Island United Methodist Church. The next dinner opportunity for our Parish is: November 15th. Please contact me if you are interested in being a volunteer for this season or want more information before committing.
Thank you very much!  Rick Culotta / [email protected] / 410-829-3129.

Haven Ministries - Hope Through Shelter, Clothing & FoodDonations of non-perishable food are warmly accepted for the Haven Ministries Emergency Food Shelter. Food donation boxes are located at both St. Luke’s Chapel and Old Wye Church.
The Food Pantry at Haven Ministries is open for daily distribution.
